Under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse, the Patient Care Associate provides direct patient care and environmental support to facilitate patient and staff safety.Job Description:
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Assists the Nurse Practitioner in the functional care of patients, ensuring efficient and patient centered care is delivered appropriate to the developmental level of the patient population.
2. Collects, records, or communicates pertinent clinical data to the supervising nurse.
3. Transports or accompanies patients as necessary to other areas of the hospital.
4. Assists in patient teaching.
5. Communicates any changes in patient status immediately to supervising nurse.
6. Documents routine parameters of care per standard and records name and title. Performs and documents patient admission, transfer, and discharge tasks as requested by nurse. Maintains patient/ family confidentiality at all times.
7. Responds to patient/ family requests promptly, seeking assistance as needed.
8. Performs and remains competent in skills.
9. Acts as a constant observer when requested.
Decision Making:
Makes decisions that are guided by general instructions and practices requiring some interpretation. May make recommendations for solving problems of moderate complexity and importance.
Problem Solving:
Addresses problems that are varied, requiring analysis or interpretation of the situation using direct observation, knowledge and skills based on general precedents
Independence of Action:
Follows precedents and procedures to perform tasks. May set priorities and organize work within general guidelines. Seeks assistance when confronted with difficult and/or unpredictable situations. Work progress is monitored by supervisor/manager .
Patient Contact:
Regular, day-to-day contact; both face-to-face and hands-on (having close contact within three feet for at least five minutes). Examples: physicians, clinical nurses, phlebotomist, medical assistants, PFT tech, and x-ray tech.

Pay Range:
$16.00 - $20.00The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
Anna Jaques Hospital is a 123 bed community hospital serving 17 cities and towns in the Merrimack Valley . The hospital offers a wide range of acute care services to meet the needs of our growing patient population including inpatient and outpatient surgery in fully digitized computerized operating room suites, cardiology including echocardiography and a cardiac cath lab, comprehensive cancer services, orthopedics, nuclear medicine, laboratory, noninvasive vascular lab, joint replacement program and birth center.

The hospitals Non Invasive Vascular laboratory was accredited by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories (ICAVL).
For the second year in a row, the American Association for Respiratory Care awarded the hospital its Quality Respiratory Care Recognition. The hospital had no ventilator acquired pneumonia cases during the last year.
The Wound Healing & Hyperbaric Center is the only such center to receive full accreditation from the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS) in Massachusetts .
