Position Description
Position Title: Resident Care Aide Date: 2025
Reports To: Resident Care Director FLSA: Non-Exempt
Status: Part-Time, Per Diem
GENERAL SUMMARY
Resident Care Aide, under the supervision of the Resident Care Director and/or Nurse, helps with personal care, housekeeping, laundry, food service, and additional resident related activities as defined in the individualized resident service plan.
Essential Job Functions: include, but are not limited to:
- Provide personal care services as outlined in the residents’ individual service plan such as
assistance with activities of daily living, assisting a resident to self- administer medications (SAMM), and escorting a resident to and from meals or activities.
- Perform light housekeeping, laundry, and change bed linens for the residents as indicated on their service plan and as needed.
- Perform assistance with grocery shopping including assisting the residents with compiling a grocery shopping list, pickup, and delivery of groceries.
- Assist Dining services as needed with food preparation, dining room set up, cleaning, meal service, table bussing, washing of tableware.
- Assist with the activity program, such as chaperoning activities outside the facility when requested / assigned by supervisor.
- Encourage and/or remind Residents to participate in activities. Promote activities enthusiastically to pique Residents’ interest.
- Provide one-on-one support/visitation to assigned Residents on a weekly basis or as requested by Supervisor; or as specified in the service plan and daily communication log.
- Document services at the time provided on appropriate flow sheets, medication reminder sheets, etc. to assure delivery of care and compliance with the Executive Office of Elder Affairs, Bethany Community Services, and GAFC program requirements.
- Understands and utilizes all emergency response systems within the residence and follows all procedures.
- Respond to Resident emergencies; provide first aid assistance and arrange for appropriate medical attention.
- Report any problems or potential problems with the residents and/or their families, the maintenance of building and/or equipment to the Wellness Director or Wellness Nurse, Property Management, or Maintenance staff as appropriate.
- Identify supplies needed to perform tasks and report needs to Supervisor.
- Participate in all required in-service training, orientation, professional development sessions, and other educational events as required.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Willingness to be a team player and help wherever help may be needed to support the organization.
- Other duties as assigned as may be required to meet the organization’s needs.
- On-call availability in case of emergency.
COMPETENCIES
- Verbal and written communication skills (English).
- Able to perform basic arithmetic skills.
PREPARATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- High School diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred.
- Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) / Home Health Aide in the state of MA and in good standing.
- Previous experience in assisted living, home health care, housing or community care preferred.
- A valid driver’s license is required.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Ability to read, write and communicate in English is required.
- Ability to lift 10-25 pounds and kneel, crouch, sit, and stand on a regular basis.
- This position may require standing, sitting, or kneeling for prolonged periods of time and occasionally requires working in hard-to-reach areas.
