Job Summary for the Property Accountant:
The Staff Accountant is responsible for performing various accounting tasks to support the financial operations of the company. This role involves processing payables, managing financial records, reconciling accounts, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and assistance with clerical and bookkeeping on an as needed basis.
Position Responsibilities:
- Review, process and track invoices, payables and resident refunds.
- Manage, monitor, and process the credit card accounts monthly.
- Investigate issues and support Business Office Directors with billing and bank statements, accounts receivable, and accounts payable to ensure accuracy, identify and resolve discrepancies and late payments.
- Assist with reconciling accounts and maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records.
- Support the auditing process by providing necessary documentation and explanations during internal and external audits.
- Assists with the annual budgeting process.
- Review and process associate expense reports, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Process Year End 1099s
- Assist in preparing corporate filing, annual reports:
- File Annual Reports for each entity.
- File Annual Quarterly Income Taxes online.
- Prepare and generate financial reports as requested.
- Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to address financial inquiries, provide support, and ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Partners with the Property Accounting Manager and Controller to develop automation and standardization around the Accounts Payable function.
- Completes other financial projects at the request of Property Accounting Manager.
- Provide general organizational and administrative support as necessary.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum Education: Associate’s degree in accounting or finance
- Preferred Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- Preferred Experience: 2 Years experience in Accounts Payable or Related Role
- Yardi Experience is a plus
Minimum Eligibility Requirements:
- Requires the ability to communicate in English both orally and in writing.
- Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, staff, community officials and the public.
- Must have compassion for and desire to work with the elderly.
- Must meet all State health requirements.
