We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Resident Care Director (RN) to lead our new memory care community, Legacy Care at The Terraces Orleans, within a Massachusetts Assisted Living Residence. This leadership role oversees resident care services, supports and develops staff, and ensures compliance with Massachusetts EOEA Assisted Living Regulations while delivering high‑quality, person‑centered dementia care.
Organize and direct nursing care staff to ensure resident safety and satisfaction by problem solving and coordinating care with the Legacy Care team. The Resident Care Director must ensure that nursing care meets all local, state and federal regulations as well as facility standards.
- Responsible for the supervision and scheduling of all nursing staff, aides, activities and housekeeping staff
- Organize and direct all nursing care staff
- Provide in-service training including dementia training
- Ensure in-services are completed
- Ensure all staff licenses are up to date and valid
- Provide annual performance reviews and constant feed back for each shift.
- Supervise plan of care for each resident and ensure staff follow the plan
- Remain up to date with current state and federal regulations, especially Infection Control protocols and proedures.
- Communicate with physicians, outside agencies and families to ensure resident wellness and safety.
- Maintain documentation of incident reports, resident assessments, service plans, 30-day reviews and introductory visit forms.
- Actively participate in the quality assurance and department head meetings and share all relevant issues with your staff in a timely manner.
- Attend meetings at the skilled rehabilitation facility to ensure smooth transition when necessary.
- Act as Administrator for Legacy Care in the Administrator’s absence.
- Provide pre-occupancy assessment on potential residents and communicate results with Admissions Director and Administrator.
- Conduct medication audits and CAN competencies regularly, as needed.
- Provide orientation with new residents and provide introductory visits with Legacy staff.
- Commit to providing personal care to all residents in collaboration with family.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures and standards of conduct according to employee handbook.
- Initiate investigations and execute discipline for any known or suspected violations of policy and/or procedures, regulations or standards of conduct.
- Report to the appropriate managers and agencies any known or suspected abuse, mistreatment or neglect of residents.
- Perform additional duties as assigned
- Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Must be a licensed/registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
- Must be CPR certified.
- Must have at least 2 years’ experience in a supervisory role in a long-term assisted living care facility.
- Must have strong assessment, communication and organizational skills to effectively and amiably communicate with residents, families and doctors, as well as with other employees.
- Must have good math skills, demonstrate dependability and punctuality and follow the employee handbook policies and procedures.
- Must be in good physical, mental and emotional health, be neat in appearance and well groomed, as well as adhere to the facility dress code.
- Be able to work cooperatively with others and control emotions.
- Demonstrate sensitivity and understanding of others’ feelings, listen and take initiative to act accordingly to their needs as necessary.
