Summary/Objective
The Life Enrichment & Activities Director is responsible for coordinating, implementing, and evaluating our assisted living activities program to enhance our Resident’s experience, while developing, maintaining and cultivating relationships with community organizations, current residents, and families. In accordance with policies and procedures, current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations governing assisted living facilities, the Director assures that an ongoing program of activities is designed to meet, in accordance with the comprehensive assessment, the interests and the physical, mental and psychological well-being of each resident in each specialty unit. The Life Enrichment & Activities Director also is responsible for creating, implementing, and managing a comprehensive Social Day program for seniors in our community. The role focuses on enhancing the quality of life for members through engaging activities and personalized care.
Duties of the Life Enrichment & Activities Director include but are not limited to the following:
Implements events and programs to enhance the assisted living experience and improve the resident quality of life.
Plans, develops, organizes, evaluates and directs the activity programs of all areas including specialized units such as memory care and mental health programs.
Develops an innovative seven day a week activity program that is engaging for all Residents.
Responsible for leading and implementing one-on-one, small group and large group programming according to the programming schedule.
Produces a quality monthly calendar and daily activity calendar on a timely basis.
Is able to manage and support Activities Assistants.
Oversees the facility’s recruitment process, training and development, employee engagement, compensation administration and performance management.
Develops and maintains a good rapport with all units involved to ensure that a team effort is achieved.
Visits residents and provides assistance with activities as needed.
Develops, administers and coordinates unit policies and procedures.
Monitors changes in current federal and state regulations, as well as professional standards, and recommends changes in policies and procedures to the Executive Director.
Prepares and plans the Activity Department’s budget for food, equipment, supplies, and labor, and submits to the Executive Director for review, recommendations and approval; forecasts the need of the unit.
Performs administrative functions such as completing necessary forms, reports, etc., and submits such to the Executive Director as required.
Collaborates with Executive Director to report operational concerns and identify ways to improve services.
Serves on, participates in and attends various committees of the facility, as required, and as appointed by the Executive Director. Provides written and/or oral reports of the programs and activities as required, or as directed by such committees.
Meet with activity staff on a regular basis to develop, conduct and evaluate activities.
Participate in continuing educational opportunities for personal growth and development.
Develop and implement innovative daily activities that address the social, emotional, and cognitive needs of residents. In Memory Care, create gross motor, self-care, social, sensory, and memory enhancement activities.
Oversee the planning and execution of group and individual activities, collaborating with other departments as needed.
Coordinate with caregivers, families, and healthcare professionals to ensure personalized care plans for participants.
Manage and train program staff, fostering a compassionate and supportive environment.
Conduct assessments of new residents to determine appropriate program participation.
Maintain accurate records of resident participation and progress.
Develop and implement social day members activities that address social, emotional, cognitive, needs. Coordinate with caregivers and families for personalized care plans for members of the social day program.
QualificationsQualifications:
Must have a bachelor’s degree (Occupational Therapy or Therapeutic Recreation preferred) or equivalent experience and knowledge of aging and disability issues.
Three (3) years of supervisory experience.
Must be qualified by experience and training to develop programs appropriate for elders and disabled individuals
Management and Leadership Experience
Experience in Microsoft Office Preferred
Must possess or obtain a valid MA drivers license, with clean driving record.
