The Gables of Fitchburg, a respected assisted living community, is seeking an experienced and passionate Executive Chef to lead our culinary program. This full-time leadership role is responsible for delivering high-quality dining experiences while managing kitchen operations, food costs, staffing, and compliance.
We are looking for a motivated culinary professional who not only excels in the kitchen but also brings strong organizational, communication, and technical skills to support a modern food service environment.
Position Overview:
The Executive Chef is responsible for overseeing all aspects of food preparation, kitchen management, and team leadership in our assisted living facility. This role ensures that meals are prepared and served in a safe, timely, and delicious manner, while also managing budgetary goals, vendor relationships, and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and execute nutritionally balanced and appealing menus tailored to the needs of our residents
- Supervise, schedule, and train kitchen staff to ensure high performance and adherence to policies
- Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal food safety and sanitation regulations
- Manage food and labor costs in alignment with budgetary goals
- Utilize food service costing software and online ordering platforms for inventory and purchasing
- Monitor and report on food costs, waste, and kitchen efficiency; prepare budget reports as needed
- Collaborate with the Executive Director and department heads to meet dietary and resident satisfaction goals
- Maintain accurate records for inspections, vendor orders, and kitchen operations
- Communicate effectively via email with management, staff, and vendors
- Be available to work a flexible schedule including some weekends and holidays as needed
Schedule & Compensation:
- Full-time, hourly paid position based on experience

Qualifications:
- Proven experience as an Executive Chef, Sous Chef, or equivalent in a hospitality or healthcare environment
- Strong understanding of dietary guidelines and meal preparation for senior populations
- Proficiency with food costing applications, inventory systems, and online ordering tools
- Budgeting, purchasing, and vendor management experience required
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to write and respond to emails professionally
- ServSafe or equivalent food safety certification required
- Leadership and team-building skills with a hands-on management style
- Tech-savvy and comfortable with cloud-based tools and reporting platforms
