Job Description:
Position Summary:This position is responsible for providing safe, reliable, courteous, and efficient transportation services to our Residents using our fleet bus. Must possess a valid driver's license and CDL license. Strong communication skills to effectively interface with Residents, staff, vendors, and general public. Must be able to pass a background check. Candidate should have a compassion for and desire to work with an older adult population.

within the approved time frame

• Excellent customer service skills in dealing with an aging population, ability to diffuse difficult situations
of a personal nature
• Uses good judgment when dealing with emergent situations, both on the road, in handling a fleet vehicle in all weather conditions, as well as dealing with resident demands and keeping the residents' safety as a top priority
• Maintains a genuine interest in providing top geriatric care, within the scope of their duties and a
continued belief in the culture of Orchard Cove
Position Responsibilities:
• A monthly schedule of bus trips will be distributed at the end of each month
• All trips must be covered. In the event you cannot cover a shift please call the Resident Experience Lead/Transportation Coordinator. In the case of no coverage please notify Member Services ASAP so that arrangements can be made for an alternate means of bus transportation
• Arrive 30 minutes before scheduled trip to warm up or cool off the bus and conduct pre-trip inspection. In the winter plan to arrive earlier if there has been a snowstorm in order to clean off the bus
• Greet and help people both on and off the bus. For shopping trips, please assist members with packages
• Record on daily sheet starting and ending mileage, starting and ending times and your initials
• Please use phone only when necessary and never while driving. No personal calls allowed on bus phone
• Bus keys are held at concierge (front) desk. Keys are·to be picked up and returned to the desk after each shift. Store gas receipts in monthly envelope provided
• Turn in gas envelope to Transportation Coordinator at end of each month. Turn in daily schedule to
Transportation Coordinator at the end of each shift
• Due to the nature of scheduling, you must give a least a 2 week notice for vacation time
• Education: High School or equivalent
• Must have a current Massachusetts driver's license Class 2 CDL and in good standing
• Previous Experience: 1-2 years of related customer service experience
• In addition, employee must successfully pass the CORI check as requested by Orchard Cove. Must be able to pass DOT physical exam. Must attend mandatory in-services provided by Orchard Cove and periodic in-services in order to keep your license current
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
• Ability to occasionally move items up to 30 pounds
• Ability to push an occupied wheelchair and lift an empty wheelchair into trunk of car
